Ride #279 - 03/16/2008- Hares- Puff'n'Stuff and Scratch'n'Sniff

Pump up those knobbies, squeeze those hips into some spandex under-layer, and come celebrate the vernal equinox just a few days early in grand fashion at northwest Georgia's premiere pre-honeymoon and golf destination, Barnsley Gardens Resort and Spa.

BEST KEPT SECRET: An intricate singletrack trail network twists and turns throughout this 1300-acre expanse of rolling hills and hardwood forest just outside Adairsville and Rome GA- most of which Wheelhopper hasn't seen or touched in three years, just prior to when Puff'n'Stuff took the nuptial plunge against ardent pleas of his many friends and fellow hashers.

Yikes!

But thankfully he survived and got out clean as Skeeter's peter.

And now he's joined forces with Scratch'n'Sniff to pimp this ride and the world as we know it to the max.

Expect a sweet little ditty of an out-and-back trail with long and short options.

The hares have arranged to have Barnsley's Beergarten reserved before and after the ride.

And they're having it catered too (Brats & all the fixins); so that after-ride PB & J and six-pack of Sweetwater Blue in your cooler won't be necessary, save for the drive home.

Cost: $20.00 (admission to the grounds, beer, real food, beer, real food - and, of course, there's the on-after on the road trip ride back if you're so inclined....)

This is a MUST-DO ride as the hares had to pull some major strings and call in favors because Barnsley Resort is under new management!

Directions From Atlanta (travel time from Marietta is approx. 1 hour).

Take I-75 North to Exit 306.

Turn left off the exit.

Travel approximately 2.2 miles on Highway 140.

Turn left at Hall Station Road and travel south approximately 5.5 miles.

Hall Station Road will intersect Barnsley Gardens Road.

At the old filling station on the right, turn right onto Barnsley Gardens Road Travel 2.5 miles to Main Entrance of the Resort.

Say you're with Wheelhopper and proceed ahead and past the Orvis "Outpost" outfitter cottage - park anywhere along the gravel lot(s).
