September Wheelhopper near Ellijay

Posted by Semenhole at August 09. 2009

Wine-Ho and Semen Hole have an awesome trail that EVERYONE will have a grin from ear to ear with.

This trail will remind you of North Carolina but without the 3+hour drive. This will be one not to miss!

Possibly the best single track in the area. The trail will be friendly to all types of riders except roadies.

Get your bikes ready and hope to see everyone there!

Hey you crazy hares - what is the date? Will it be on Saturday or Sunday?

(I'm voting for Sat. 9/19 - cuz we probably have Falcons tickets for that Sunday, but I can sell them if I have to)

Attention hashers, here's the plan:

The September Wheelhopper hash will be in the Ellijay area on Saturday, September 19th starting at 1:30. I've picked Saturday so that we can enjoy several great trails in the area plus a perfect place to camp and shower. I have reserved the Mulberry Gap for Saturday night. These folks will cook dinner and breakfast for you. They have cabins, bunk cabins and tent sites that you can rent. In addition they have hot tubs and hot showers for us to use. Go to www.mulberrygap.com. This is the perfect place for a wheelhopper. Drinking is allowed!

Amenities Included are:

  • Home cooked breakfast & dinner
  • Hot Tubs
  • Bathhouse
  • Bath linens & robes
  • Twin size bunk beds with firm Serta mattresses
  • Bed linens freshly made the day of your arrival
  • Fire pits/firewood available
  • Rec room includes ping pong, weights, maps and reading material
  • WiFi
  • Dog friendly. Small and medium dogs $8 per day, large dogs $10 per day
  • Use of dining hall for snacks, games, gatherings or just relaxation

Mulberry Gap is very accommodating. you can spend $10 on a primitive tent site with no amenities. Or, If you'd like a mattress beneath you, that will cost about $60 which includes meals. You can arrange your specific needs with them.
Visit the web site.

For those of you interested, contact Diane at the Mulberry Gap at 866-635-1740 and place your reservation. Also, update this site with a posting about your reservation that way I can get a head count. You literally just have to bring your bike, yourself and some booze! The rest is taken care for you!

Hope to see you there! This will be a fun one!

I think the pricing referenced above may not be correct.

Here's a direct link.  The pricing is a bit confusing so if you have any questions, please EM Diane. calling won't get you a fast response!

I LOVE this place- a well kept secret.  When I rode the entire Cohutta Outer loop  while rehabbing a fractured hand, I went up super early from ATL so I could grab breakfast.  Knew if I would be set for all 98.3 miles and I was.  It is like going home to family but better b/c there is no drama involved.  Miss these ladies and will be going up Friday night.

If anyone else is interested, let me know and I will put together a nice ride based upon likes and desires. I ride the area regularly- at least twice a week-and know it better than any of the local stuff in town.

Otherwise, I am gonna practice my switchback skills on Pinhoti 3.

If you have any last minute bike neeeds, stop by Cartecay Bikes- an amazing shop with super people.
