There are plenty of  first come sites, but because it is in the height of the fall leaf color season, Davidson River will most likely be completely filled by Thursday evening, it was the last year few years. It was really hard to get enough campsites. So, if you don't have a site, and haven't let me know that you are coming, you are on your own for camping.

Most of us that I know of going have sites in the Apple loop.

Does everyone know how to get to the campground?
 
First - I suggest you get & bring a map, I don't want to hear any bitching that you got lost.
It should take approx. 3 hours depending on traffic leaving Atlanta.
 
There are many ways to get there - the easiest way is to take I-85 into SC.
Then there are 2 options that I'm going to give you:
You can take exit 1 Hwy 11 (scenic route) to Hwy 276 (thru Ceasar Head State Park)
We usually take exit 21 Hwy 178 to Pickens, then Hwy 8 to Hwy 276. (thru Ceasar Head State Park)
Hwy 276 takes you into Brevard.
In downtown Brevard you will take a right onto Hwy 64.
go past Brevard College.
From the intersection of Highway 280/64/276, go north (left) on Highway 276 for 1 mile or so. Follow signs to campground.
It will be on the left.
